What the checklist does
The cost planning checklist identifies categories to check, such as premiums, cost sharing, prescription coverage, and providers. It does not accept inputs, calculate a total, or determine eligibility. The previous numerical estimator was suspended because its historical assumptions could misstate costs.
Limits
Medicare costs depend on the coverage year, benefits, services used, plan, location and individual circumstances. Part A hospital cost sharing depends on benefit periods; Part B cost sharing depends on covered services and remaining deductible. Part B and Part D income-related adjustments depend on the applicable year and filing status. The checklist cannot determine these amounts or whether a penalty or assistance applies.
